Moody Park is located at the intersection of College and Jones. For more detailed location information, check out the General Park Map or Moody Park Map
History:
In 1864, the land that would become Moody Park was acquired from Julian Benoit. It was once the site of a large gravel pit and horse barn but is now a quaint plot of land hidden away in the picturesque West Central Neighborhood. In fact, Moody Park was known as West Central Park until 1981 when it was renamed in honor of the co-creator of Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, Reverend Bill Moody. WHAT TO DO

Since 1880 Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Park is located at 2300 Clinton Street. For more detailed location information, check out the General Park Map or Reservoir Park Map
History: In 1900, a reservoir was needed to maintain a safe and adequate water supply due to a problem with contaminated wells. City officials chose a site that was a parcel of land that had been purchased from Andrew Hamilton in 1880. Early in the 1960s, a new water filtration plant was built, and the now obsolete reservoir was partially demolished and integrated into the famous fifty-foot hill that has come to symbolize Reservoir Park.
In 2009, the Park was renamed Ivan Lebamoff Reservoir Park after former Mayor Lebamoff (1972-1975) who was also on the City Park Board. Lebamoff helped find funding to rebuild the deteriorating Reservoir Park in the mid 1970s and transferred the property from City Utilities to the Parks and Recreation Department.

1911 Excavation for lagoons began.

1925 An Italianate sunken garden and pergola are built.
1928 the garden was named a National Rose Garden.

The uncredited 1912 master plan for Lakeside Park is likely the work of renowned landscape architect, George Kessler, who designed the Park and Boulevard Plan for Fort Wayne the same year.
Throughout the park walks connect to the nearby street grid. Historic photographs reveal ornate furniture and flowerbeds. Four lagoons, both natural and excavated, are featured in the original plans, along with serpentine paths, a curvilinear drive, and bridges leading to islands in the lagoons.

Lakeside Park Little Free Library
Creating a new Little Free Library was thought of by Nicole as a dedication project for a co-worker, Josie, who celebrated 20 years of service with the Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department. This truly was a team effort involving maintenance techs (constructed the library out of a tree), gardeners (carved out rotting wood and planted flagstone and the flower bed around the tree), Nicole’s painting skills as well as a neighbor girl who donated her time and stenciled the flowers and butterflies that are now present at the library. Another neighbor donated the window. The Lakeside Little Free Library has been in operation since the fall of 2019. Stop by the Little Free Library the next time you are near Lakeside Park and either pick up or drop off a book of your choosing!
Walking Path
A walking path circles around the park providing a nice loop for walking and enjoying the park. The path is a little over half a mile in length
Fishing
Fishing is permitted in Lakeside Pond with an appropriate license; all state regulations apply.

Connect with Food
Our goal is to connect you with your food and the people responsible for growing it. Shopping for your food doesn’t have to be a hectic headache at the grocery store with crowded aisles, slow check-out lanes and tasteless produce. It can be a relaxing family outing where you learn something new about the food you’re eating. Tips The farmers and gardeners love nothing better than to talk about what they grow and how they grow it. They also have the best tips for how to cook the food – or how to eliminate those pesky little caterpillars before consuming your broccoli. The produce guy at the grocery store doesn’t share recipes, planting/gardening advice or tips for cleaning your food – take advantage of the opportunity!
Please note: On March 15th the youth centers will not open until 11 a.m. as all staff will be in a training session at Weisser Center from 8:45-10:30
