Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

Visit the Botanical Conservatory on the fourth Saturday to get a closer look at our plants and gardens with an exploratory walk, hands-on activity or demonstration. We highlight a different garden each month so you can make new discoveries through fun, educational activities. Included in your regular Conservatory admission, so drop in!

GC: Awesome Arthropods

Saturday, April 28, 11:00am – 1:00pm

What is an arthropod? Are all arthropods ‘bugs’? We will learn what an arthropod is and about the different kinds found around here and afar. Join us as we learn about insects, arachnids, and more! Create your own “awesome arthropod” to take home. Then visit our Butterfly Exhibit and see some amazing live butterflies and other arthropods up close!  

GC: The Four Bs: Birds, Bats, Bees and Butterflies!

Saturday, May 26, 11:00am – 1:00pm

What do birds, bats, bees and butterflies all have in common? There are actually several things! At this special learning station, we will explore the world of these four amazing creatures, their similarities and differences. We will also learn how important they are to our world here and abroad. You can get up close and personal with some of these creatures when you visit our live butterfly exhibit or view our observation beehive. Then, make your own beautiful “B” creature to take home.
