The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department will be using this link to share important information addressing the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our department.

We are continuing to monitor the situation in order to provide the best guidance possible for all of our citizens. We will be following all information and best practices put forth by public health authorities such as the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Board of Health and the City of Fort Wayne.

Most Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation offices and facilities are OPEN to the public at their normal operating hours.  Capacities will be limited in these buildings and all facilities will continue to requrire masks and proper social distancing practices.  Learn More about Facilities that have OPENED!

Masks are required when visiting all Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department facilities.  You will notice the above signs posted at all our facilities requiring a mask to enter. Thanks for your cooperation!


COVID-19 MASK REQUIREMENT UPDATE FROM CITY OF FORT WAYNE

April 2, 2021 - Visitors to Citizens Square and all other City of Fort Wayne-owned facilities will still be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing as part of COVID-19 safety protocols through at least July 4, 2021.

Can I visit a park?

All 87 Parks remain open. We ask that you follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and proper hygiene.

What is open vs closed? It seems to be constantly changing.

We are following the CDC/Board of Health/City of Fort Wayne guidelines for what is Open vs Closed.  You can now check out our COVID-19 infographic to learn more!   We remain under a MASK mandate.  

 

Can we visit the playgrounds and spraygrounds? 

The playgrounds are open at this time! Spraygrounds are CLOSED and will reopen in late May. 

 

Will you open drinking fountains & restrooms this season?

Our plan is to open our drinking fountains & restrooms on or before May 1st.  


I am seeing people not abiding by social distancing and/or breaking other park rules and I am not sure what to do?

We have placed signs at all of our parks noting social distancing. If you see a sign that is down, please give us a call 260-427-6000 and one of our team members will check into the status of the sign. If you notice issues with the public at a particular park please report to the Police Non-Emergency number (260-427-1222) as we rely on the Police for enforcement issues.

What about trails? I’d like to go on a walk with my family. Is that okay?

Yes all park trails remain open. We ask that you follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and proper hygiene. When you encounter someone on a trail remember to move to the side as you are able to give plenty of distance between you while you pass.


What about Golf? I’d really like to get out and play.

All Golf Courses are now open for the spring season!!!

City golf course daily open times will be based on daylight and weather conditions. When inclement weather occurs, courses may close for a short period, or for the day, depending upon the severity of the weather. Golfers are asked to call ahead to confirm course availability and to reserve tee times:

Will you offer a PW/JR Golf program this summer?

Yes we will.  The information is now on-line so you can learn more and register if you wish.  Check out the PW/JR Golf link to learn more.

 

What about the Lifetime Sports Academy?  Will that be running?

Yes. We are busy working out the details for this signature program.  We will annouce additional information in May. 


Will the pools be open this summer?

Right now we are looking for staff.  Our intention is to open Northside & McMillen pools.  

 

Do you have any summer jobs?

Yes we do!  We are looking for energetic employees in a variety of areas.  Please check out our JOBS link to learn more!
 


I have a pavilion reservation and I am unsure what to do?

Pavilions are now being booked for 2021 events. Call our office at 260-427-6000 if you have questions.  Or you can stop by!  


I have a dog but do not have a dog pass. Can I get one still?

Sure!

To purchase a Dog Park Membership we will need copies of your vet records showing your dog is up-to-date on Parvo, Rabies and Distemper along with the completed last two pages of the Dog Park Information Packet: http://www.fortwayneparks.org/images/stories/Facilities/POOCH_PASS_2016.pdf 

The membership is $40 and expires on December 31st. If you were to wait until July 1st or after to purchase the membership it is $20. If you have additional questions, just give us a call at 260-427-6000.
