Active Aging Week

September 23-27

Community Center, 233 W. Main St. (and additional locations)

To celebrate Active Aging Week, the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department has teamed up with local groups and businesses to offer free activities, events and information to promote the benefit of leading an active, healthy and engaged lifestyle at age 50 and older. The Community Center downtown will offer free Active Aging Week tournaments starting Monday, September 23. Participants must be 50 years or older and may enter as many tournaments as they’d like, but are required to sign up at least two days before each event. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each tournament. Call 260-427-6460 for more details and to register.

Fort Wayne, IN – On Saturday, October 26, from 10am – Noon, Friends of the Parks of Allen County invites citizens to partner with area parks & trails departments, non-profits, businesses, neighborhoods, and community volunteers to plant new trees in parks and public spaces during the 18th annual Great Tree Canopy Comeback.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Recent dry weather conditions and warmer temperatures caused what appears to be an algae-bloom at the Hurshtown Reservoir. To properly test the water in Hurshtown Reservoir and protect the health and safety of recreational users, the Hurshtown Reservoir is closed. The fenced-in reservoir will remain closed to recreational users until further notice.
