Fort Wayne, Ind. – The following events and programs are happening the week of November 25, 2019:

 

Santa’s Workshop

Wednesday, Nov. 27, 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Start your downtown celebration at the Community Center with free holiday activities for the kids. There will be crafts, refreshments and a holiday movie. Donate a new or gently used bear and enter a drawing to win a giant elf bear. Kids can shop for inexpensive holiday gifts for $5 or less at the North Pole Stop-n-Shop while Mom and Dad shop for hand-crafted items at Candy Cane Lane. Don’t miss the light display on the Community Center roof. The Lighting Ceremony is at 6:05pm. Sponsored by Park Place Senior Living and Summit City Nursing & Rehab.

 

Holiday Kick-off Party

Wednesday, Nov. 27, 5 - 9 p.m.

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

At this annual holiday event visitors can meet Mrs. Claus and get a free professional-quality photo with Santa! While Santa takes a break from 7:00pm - 7:30pm, visit two live reindeer that know all about the North Pole and enjoy our “Christmas Connections” garden exhibit too. All of the gardens are beautifully decorated for the holidays and be sure to check out the animated light show outdoors and warm up with refreshments available for purchase at our new cafe vendor, Conjure Coffee. Sponsored by PBS 39 and Majic 95.1.

 

Holly Shopping

Saturday, November 30, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

Park, shop, and ride free trollies for an exciting shopping experience through Downtown Fort Wayne, West Main Shops, and the Wells Street Corridor! The trollies will visit several unique venues stopping along their route, including our Conservatory Shop. We will also be featuring items from Cozmé Jewelry as a pop-up shop.

 

Merchant Market on Main

Saturday, November 30, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

The Downtown Development District will sponsor Holly Shopping, November 30, 10:00 am-4:00 pm. This event takes place during HolidayFest in collaboration with Small Business Saturday, which helps promote shopping locally to patrons across the country. Downtown shopping will be made easier on this day with free trolley rides throughout Downtown. In conjunction with Holly Shopping, the Community Center will host a vendor/merchant market. Kids and families can come and have cookies and milk with Santa and friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m.

 

Wassail Celebration

Sunday, December 1, 4 p.m.

Jennings Recreation Center, 1330 McCulloch St.

Join us as we kick off the holiday season with youth performances in dance, music and poetry!

The Wassail History will be recited and light refreshments will be served, including the traditional Wassail punch. The Wassail Celebration is free and open to the public. Sponsored by B96.9 and Fort Wayne’s NBC.

Christmas Connections

Open Through January 5, normal Conservatory hours

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

This year, in celebration of the opening of the new “Botanical Connector,” the Conservatory offers new opportunities for visitors to make important connections. This year, our hallway Gallery will show a timeline of Christmas exhibits at the Conservatory over the decades. Enjoy viewing family photos sent in by local residents from recent years, identify holiday fragrances and the memories they might bring back, and send off a card to Santa in our seasonal “post office.” Sponsored by PBS 39 and Majic 95.1 FM.

 

Garden in Lights

Open Through January 5, normal Conservatory hours

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

Make the most of your holidays and visit Fort Wayne’s treasured public gardens at the Botanical Conservatory where we have decorated all through the gardens, indoors and out! Come enjoy beautiful poinsettias from the Atrium to the Desert along with our “Christmas Connections” theme and illuminated outdoor display of lights and holiday music. Especially effective during our evening hours on Thursday and Friday nights for four weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the gardens provide a tremendous backdrop for family photos, special outings, and guest entertainment. Our gift shop and new café will also be open during public hours. Sponsored by PBS 39 and Majic 95.1.
