New Millennium Jazz Orchestra

This 17 piece traditional big band has entertained locally for 20 years. This will be an excellent evening of traditional big band tunes

Fort Wayne Children’s Choir

Friday, July 26, 7 pm

Foellinger Theatre (FoellingerTheatre.org)

This concert serves as the capstone for the choir’s week long intensive. Fort Wayne Children’s Choir will offer nine separate choirs to entertain the Foellinger audience.

Loverboy

Saturday, July 27, 8 pm

For more than 30 years, LOVERBOY has been “Working for the Weekend” forming in 1978, when vocalist Mike Reno was introduced to guitar hot shot Paul Dean. Botanical Roots: CJ Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band

C.J. Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band are dynamic stage performers with an old school Zydeco sound enjoyed by young and old alike. As the son of Clifton Chenier (the first Creole musician to win a Grammy Award), C.J. is a masterful accordion player and vocalist. Botanica Jones: “Botanica Jones: Scientist, Merchant or Thief?”

Open through November 17

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

At this garden exhibit in the Botanical Conservatory, guests can visit a wealthy Englishman’s garden, showcasing plants brought back by “Botanica Jones,” a plant explorer of the late 1800s through early 1900s. Visitors can decide whether they have the passion to join these botanical elite. The “Botanica Jones” exhibit is sponsored by WAJI Majic 95.1 and PBS 39.

FREE Summer Playground Program – FINAL WEEK

Through July 26, Mon-Fri, 9 am – 5 pm

Children ages 5 to 18 who are still in school, can participate in the program Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm through July 26 for fun, interactive activities throughout the day, and this program is held at five local playgrounds: Hamilton Park, Lafayette Park, Memorial Park, Packard Park, and Lakeside Park, along with the city’s youth centers: Weisser Park Youth Center, Cooper Community Center, Jennings Recreation Center and McMillen Park Community Center. All five playground sites and the Youth Centers are supervised by qualified, trained staff. Kickball, t-ball, bumper pool, Mancala, basketball, arts & crafts, and field trips are just a few of the exciting activities planned for the summer playground program. Children can also enjoy a FREE lunch or snack provided by Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Salomon Farm Park Farmers’ Market

Wednesdays through Sept. 4, 4 – 7 pm

Salomon Farm Park, 817 W. Dupont Rd.

The Salomon Farm Park Farmer’s Market connects the local community to farmers, producers, bakers, and artisan that are within a 75 mile radius of Salomon Farm Park. Produce vendors are required to grow their own fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs and many also embrace sustainable and organic growing practices. The market also occasionally includes baked goods, honey, maple syrup, handmade craft vendors, food vendors, entertainment, and children’s activities.
