Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is inviting citizens to participate in the Citizen Match Tree Planting Program. The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Forestry Team is responsible for maintaining our publicly owned urban canopy, comprised of almost 50,000 street trees located along nearly 1300 miles of roadway and 20,000 trees found within our 87 parks.

Community Unity Night

Tuesday, February 18, 5:30 p.m.

Weisser Park Youth Center, 802 Eckart St.

Citizens can take part in a community safety forum then enjoy a light meal along with games and prizes for the kids. These events are great opportunities for neighbors to meet and greet with each other and also engage with some Fort Wayne Police Department officers. This free program is hosted by the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department, the Fort Wayne Police Department, Fort Wayne United, the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne and B96.9.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Attorney Richard Samek was re-elected President of the Board of Park Commissioners in the annual board officers election on Thursday, February 13.

Riverfront Fort Wayne is offering another opportunity to learn about Riverfront development and plans for the future. Each Riverfront Educational Series event features a different topic and panel discussion, and drinks and snacks will be available for purchase. February’s topic is “Phases II and III of Riverfront Development.” This FREE event is family-friendly and limited to the first 160 people, so plan to arrive early. The Beach Boys will pull into town to perform at Fort Wayne’s reserved seat outdoor performing arts center, Foellinger Theatre, on Saturday, July 25, at 8:00 p.m..
