Fort Wayne's Trail Partners

There are several groups/agencies working on trail development besides the Fort Wayne Park and Recreation Department and the Greenway Consortium.

The New Haven-Adams Township Park & Recreation Department opened their Community Trails Project in New Haven along the Trier Creek (ditch) and the Maumee River in 2006. The section is 3 miles in length and part of the Rivergreenway. You can access this trail at the Boat Landing along North River Road and head East to New Haven or West to connect with the Fort Wayne Rivergreenway. For more information about this section, please call the New Haven/Adams Township Park & Recreation Department (749-2212).

Aboite New Trails has constructed 14 trail miles in Aboite Township, linking recreational areas with schools, churches, shopping, places of employment, and other area destinations. For more information about trails in Aboite, check out www.aboitenewtrails.org

Also in Aboite, a 1.5 mile paved asphalt trail winds around Indian Trails Park (the Aboite Township park that is home to Three Rivers Junction playground and the Jorgensen YMCA). This trail was constructed by the Aboite Township Parks Board.

Northwest Allen Trails Inc., a non-profit organization has plans to construct over 30 miles of trails in Allen County. For more information about this group check out their website, http://www.northwestallentrails.org/

Allen County and the State of Indiana are helping to construct our community's trail network.

Greenway Consortium

In 1976 a diverse group of citizens from both the public and private sectors in Fort Wayne and Allen Co. met to form the Greenway Consortium. The goal was to plan and develop a linear park, along the banks of our rivers, that would extend from county line to county line. The Consortium is also coordinating with other local trail groups to connect with other parts of the county and state.

The Greenway Consortium meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 11:30 a.m.

Meetings take place at Baker and Daniels, 111 E. Wayne Street, Suite 800.
