Testimonials
Just a note to thank all concerned for the wonderful Rivergreenway trails in general and the new Towpath trail in particular. We have been enjoying this trail almost daily since it was first opened – and yes, this note should have been sent long ago. We know the work of the city government is hugely important on many more pressing issues, but we would find it hard to think of anything more important to us than the trails. We are grateful for what’s done and look forward to completing the connection to Aboite Trails. Thank you.
Best Regards,
Tom N.
Community Mural Projects

The 1st Community Mural was designed and created by local middle school students using a variety of topics having to do with their lives, the rivers, the Miami Indian culture, and Fort Wayne parks. Participating organizations in this project were the Fort Wayne Museum of Art, The Urban League, the City of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation and the Greenway Consortium.
The project was made possible by a Creative Alternative Programs (CAP) grant from the Lincoln Financial Group Foundation, Foellinger Foundation and Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne.
The mural is located on the flood control wall along the Rivergreenway between Fourth Street and the Old Fort.

This second mural project was funded by Baker & Daniels. A group of eight Memorial Park Middle School students spent two months learning about murals and painting this mural. They actually painted three drafts of murals. Then, parents and other students voted on which mural they liked best. The winning mural was painted on the 4' by 10' fiberglass panel and hung along the Rivergreenway near the Old Fort.
The local artists who instructed the students were Jason Stopa and Eric Tarr. The students decided on a theme of diversity and combined elements of time, the city and nature in the colorful mural.

Three more murals were added to the Rivergreenway Gallery near Lawton Park on June 6, 2009. Two of the three artists were present for the dedication. Above Karen Moriarty, with Mayor Tom Henry, and her mural.

Community Gardens & Rivergreenway Improvements
The Rivergreenway gardens, located in nine areas from Main Street to Spy Run
Avenue along the St. Marys Pathway, are another effort by the City of Fort Wayne
and the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department to enhance trail users'
experiences along the Rivergreenway. Along with new signage, the resurfacing the
of the trail and murals by the Old Fort, the City continues to improve its 20-mile
Rivergreenway trail. Please stay tuned for more improvements very soon!
