About the Rivergreenway
The Rivergreenway Trail is a 24 mile long linear park in Fort Wayne and New Haven, Indiana. The trail is along the banks of the St. Marys, St. Joseph and Maumee Rivers. Much of the Rivergreenway has been funded by the State of Indiana and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund. The Rivergreenway provides a great opportunity for recreation, fitness and conservation, as well as providing an alternative transportation network safely connecting the community.
A linear park such as the Rivergreenway is a long, narrow park with limited access that is ideal for activities such as bicycling, hiking, nature study, jogging, rollerblading or just going for a leisurely walk. The Rivergreenway offers natural vistas and scenic overlooks within an urban environment. It creates a synergism between country and urban settings that affords users the opportunity to enjoy the best of both. Additionally, it creates a natural overflow against the invasion of high water which helps mitigate the ravages of flooding.
The Rivergreenway is owned and maintained by the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department, the City of Fort Wayne Public Works Department, and the New Haven/Adams Township Parks & Recreation Department. If there are comments, questions, or concerns about any section of the Rivergreenway, please contact the Greenways Manager at (260) 427-6002.

The second phase of the 3-mile Rivergreenway Extension from Johnny Appleseed Park to Shoaff Park is now complete, linking IPFW with the Rivergreenway network. Mayor Tom Henry, Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll, IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell and the Greenway Consortium dedicated the 0.44 mile extension from Johnny Appleseed Park to IPFW's Venderly Bridge on July 27th. The Rivergreenway is now connected to the IPFW campus and the IPFW Native Trees of Indiana River Walk, a 1.3 mile trail running along the east side of the St. Joe River on IPFW's campus to Canterbury Green Apartments and St. Joe Road. The entire Rivergreenway Extension to Shoaff Park will not be completed until 2013, but trail users can actually access Shoaff Park now utilizing existing trails, sidewalks and residential streets. See attached map. In order to get to Shoaff Park from the Rivergreenway, take the Native Trees of Indiana River Walk thru IPFW's campus to St. Joe Road. Take the sidewalks along St. Joe Road north to St. Joe Center Road. Turn left or west and take the sidewalks to the entrance of Riviera Plaza. Turn right and utilize residential streets (Upper St. Joe Center Road and East Shore Drive) to the trail leading into Shoaff Park. Once inside Shoaff Park, trail users can enjoy several loop trails, including the 1.86 mile perimeter trail.

As our trails continue to extend throughout our community and while additional bicycle infrastructure is planned, the demand for bike parking has also increased. This Bike Rack guide provides businesses and organizations with an introduction to bike racks and the preferred styles, as well as considerations for installation.
