America

America color

The year 2016 marks the 46th Anniversary of perennial classic-rock favorite, America.  Founding members, Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell (along with former band mate Dan Peek) met in high school in London in the late 1960s and quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song "A Horse With No Name."  America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single.  Forty plus years later, these friends are still making music together, touring the world and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound. Their best-known tunes, which also include "I Need You," "Ventura Highway," "Don't Cross The River," "Tin Man," "Lonely People," and "Sister Golden Hair" were cornerstones of 1970's Top 40 and FM rock radio.

George Thorogood
Sunday, September 18, 7:30 pm

GT20152-001

In 1973, a barely-out-of-his-teens Wilmington guitarist piled his gear into his drummer’s Chevy van to play their first gig at the University of Delaware dorm. More than 4 decades, over 8,000 live shows, and some 15 million albums sold worldwide later, that same maverick guitar-singer is still making electrifying music, still thrilling audiences and still the most bad-to-the-bone performer in rock. George Thorogood & The Destroyers are Badder than ever!

George and his longtime band—Jeff Simon (drums, percussion), Bill Blough (bass guitar), Jim Suhler (rhythm guitar) and Buddy Leach (saxophone) –the new Badder than Ever Tour is indestructible proof that staying true to yourself and the music can still mean something. And with a catalog of classics that includes “Who Do You Love,” “I Drink Alone,” “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer,” “Move It on Over,” “Bad to the Bone,” and more, being able to share it with audiences is what will always matter.
