If you encounter any downed trees or safety concerns, please call or email the Greenways Dept at (260)427-6228 or  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Please be aware, during or following a rainfall, portions of the trail network may be muddy and/or slippery. Please slow down and use caution, especially on boardwalks.  Always use caution whenever you encounter a wet section of trail.

Trail Closures due to Flooding:  We are currently assessing the trail network after the heavy rainfall Wednesday night.  Many of our trails are under water, as listed below.  If you encounter flooding, turn back and find another route.

St. Joseph Pathway is closed under Parnell and under St. Joe Ctr Rd

St. Marys Pathway is closed in the following locations:

  • Under the Spy Run Bridge
  • Under the MLK Memorial Bridge
  • From the 3rd St Pump Station to below the Harrison St Bridge
  • Under the Van Buren Bridge to Main St
  • In Swinney Park, East and West
  • Below the W. Jefferson Blvd Bridge from Swinney Park to Taylor
  • In Foster Park by the Tennis Courts
  • From the Fairfield Ave Trailhead south to Tillman Park

Maumee Pathway is closed from just east of Pemberton to Moser Park in New Haven.

Towpath Trail is closed from Covington Rd to Smith Rd with additional minor flooding along Engle Rd.

Trail Closures and Detours due to Construction:

Periodic Detour - Currently Open - St. Joseph Pathway along Spy Run Ext - January thru June 2017

The St. Joseph Pathway will have intermittent closures between State Blvd to Parnell Ave with a detour this year, while AEP moves forward with their Powering Up Central Project, installing new poles and power lines along the Spy Run Corridor and further north to Robison Park. In some cases, the construction crew may close the trail in short segments and allow trail users to use the street as traffic is controlled to get around short periods of work that will close the trail and 1-lane of traffic.

Future Trail Detours or Closures:

Maumee Pathway - Late winter - Trail along Edgewater Ave from Delta Blvd to the Morton St

City Utilities will be working on a sewer separation project along Edgewater Ave and the levee just east of Delta Blvd.  Trail traffic will be shifted to the street or north sidewalk along Edgewater in the area of impact, from Delta to Morton.  The project is going to start in late fall or early winter.

St. Marys Pathway - Estimated Closure July 2017 thru 2018 - Riverfront Development Area, Phase I from the east side of the Harrison St Bridge and the Historic Wells St. Bridge

To begin the first phase of the riverfront development, a segment of the St. Marys Pathway will undergo a detour during the construction period.  It is currently estimated the trail will be closed and detoured from July 2017 through the end of 2018.  As more information becomes available, we will update this page.
