Fort Wayne, IN: The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department Community Center is celebrating our milestone 40th anniversary with a free community party on Friday, September 29, 4 – 8 pm. Making life fun is what we do best at the Community Center!
All day during the celebration, there will be music, a giant wall painting canvas and plenty of photos to peruse. From 4 – 6 pm, family-friendly activities will be offered: inflatables, gaga pit, shuffleboard, games, crafts, scavenger hunt, hotdogs and more. From 6 – 8 pm that evening, adults 21 and older are invited to Trivia Night for Adults, cornhole, foot darts, shuffleboard, a wine and beer tasting sponsored by Signature Healthcare and a chili cook-off between downtown area restaurants.
The Senior Citizen Center first opened its doors in the fall of 1977, offering programs designed specifically for seniors age 55 and older. In 1992, the name was changed to the Community Center and people of all ages were invited to join in the fun, although daytime programming at the Community Center is still centered around the 50+ age group.
