America on the Move in Fort Wayne in conjunction with Fort4Fitness is expanding to develop Community Wellness in an initiative called 4YOURHEALTH. Its goal is to engage residents in Northeast Indiana to increase or maintain their level of physical activity, improve their eating habits, and make good health a top priority!
4YOURHEALTH offers a vibrant community calendar chocked full of offerings and events geared for your whole family! This spring and summer join Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation, the Parkview Family YMCA and Parkview Physicians Group in a free walking program. Community members of all ages are welcome to attend a series of six opportunities to listen to a physician presentation on a health-related topic and then join the physician on a walk at the Salomon Farm Park Trail. During the walk, community members can ask the physician questions specific to the topic from the
presentation. Free blood pressure screenings, educational materials and light snacks and water
will also be provided at each event. This year’s program starts on Tuesday, May 13 with Mark
O’Shaughnessy, MD, of Parkview Physicians Group – Cardiology. Dr. O’Shaughnessy will be discussing “Exercise and Your Heart.” The remaining six dates are: June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9 and October 14. All sessions will be held at the Salomon Farm Park Old Barn located at 817 W. Dupont Road in Fort Wayne. The program runs from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with pre-registration starting at 5:45 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, program and walking will be moved indoors to the Parkview Family YMCA at 10001 Dawson’s Creek Blvd.
