Riverfront Development Progress Continues with the Old Fort and Headwaters Park Bank Stabilization Project

Fort Wayne, IN: Today, Mayor Tom Henry and Parks & Recreation Landscape Architect Alec Johnson, along with representatives from the Old Fort, the Great Lakes Commission, and the DNR’s Indiana Lake and River Enhancement Program (LARE), kicked off the St. Marys Small Scale Streambank Stabilization project. The Great Lakes Commission awarded the project $80,000 over a two year period, and Indiana DNR LARE awarded the project $100,000 this year for construction and $32,000 last year for design.

Land Acquisitions Settled - Regional Cities Funding Request Pending

Fort Wayne, IndThe Fort Wayne Board of Park Commissioners, Red Bird Properties and Cambray and Associates have reached agreements on the core settlement terms for property acquisitions and relocation expenses of the final three riverfront properties located in the area planned for Riverfront Development Phase 1.

$1 Night & Black History Month

Thursday, February 2, 5 – 7 pm

On the first Thursday of the month, visit the Botanical Conservatory gardens between 5pm and 8pm for only $1 admission per person AND enjoy an interactive learning activity. During the February DNI, discover George Washington Carver, the botanist and inventor who developed one of the most revolutionary concepts in American agriculture — crop rotation. He is well-known for documenting the many uses of peanuts and for supporting peanuts in rotation with cotton to replenish the fields. While you learn, you can enjoy some tasty peanut-y treats! Stargazing: Your Sky Tonight

Wednesdays, January 18 and February 15, 7 – 7:30 pm, Historic Wells Street Bridge, N. Wells St., FREE Admission

Join us and our friends at Science Central on the third Wednesday of every month for a dreamy walk along the riverbanks and a chance to take a closer look at the stars.
