Foellinger Theatre Concert and Movie Series Announced

Fort Wayne, Ind—Mayor Tom Henry joined Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll today to announce the 2017 summer concert lineup at Foellinger Theatre.

The concert season, which begins May 18, will feature several acts making their first appearance at Foellinger Theatre, including Christopher Cross with Very Special Guest Stephen Bishop and Journey Former Lead Vocalist Steve Augeri. Many favorites such as Chicago, Kansas, The Lettermen, The Beach Boys and ZZ Top will return as well.

Fort Wayne, IndProgress continues to be made on riverfront development efforts. On Thursday, the Fort Wayne Board of Park Commissioners, Red Bird Properties and Cambray and Associates closed on the final three riverfront properties located in the area planned for Riverfront Development Phase 1. The properties will be transferred to the Fort Wayne Board of Park Commissioners and the condemnation lawsuits will be dismissed.

Butterfly Volunteers Needed at Conservatory

Training in March to help April-June

Do you enjoy butterflies? As the Conservatory prepares for its 15th year of live butterflies, the staff is looking for volunteers to assist in monitoring the entrance and exit vestibules of the new exhibit. Butterfly Attendants assist visitors with exhibit protocols and in preventing butterfly escapes, while helping to make the guests’ experience positive.

Fort Wayne, IN—Due to unforeseen circumstances, Weisser Park Youth Center is closed for the day. Parents are encouraged to take their children to Jennings Recreation Center (1330 McCulloch Street), Cooper Community Center (2300 Clinton & Lafayette), or McMillen Park Community Center (3901 Abbot Street) for after-school recreation from 3 – 8 pm this evening. Weisser Center will reopen Tuesday.

Fort Wayne, IN: Today, Mayor Tom Henry and Parks & Recreation Landscape Architect Alec Johnson, along with representatives from the Old Fort, the Great Lakes Commission, and the DNR’s Indiana Lake and River Enhancement Program (LARE), kicked off the St. Marys Small Scale Streambank Stabilization project. The Great Lakes Commission awarded the project $80,000 over a two year period, and Indiana DNR LARE awarded the project $100,000 this year for construction and $32,000 last year for design.
