Fort Wayne residents and business leaders joined Mayor Tom Henry, City Councilman Glynn Hines and Parks & Recreation Director Al Moll to dedicate the McMillen Park Community Center today. The new and improved 82,000 square foot multipurpose facility is a Legacy Fort Wayne Project. Today’s event showcased Phase 1 of the renovation, a $2 million project, with future phases to come.

THE BEACH BOYS, one of America's greatest rock bands, return to Fort Wayne for the first time in over 10 years on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:30 pm.
Formed in Hawthorne, California in suburban Los Angeles, by brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and their friend Al Jardine, their songs about surfing, cars and romance led to 36 Top 40 songs. The Beach Boys were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988, have sold over 100 million records around the world, and are listed at Number 12 in Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 100 Artists of All Time.
Mayor Tom Henry and Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll kicked off the 36th anniversary of the Senior Games today with the ceremonial lighting of the torch at Courthouse Green. The Senior Games is open to adults 50 and older and over 300 are expected to participate this year. Events are held at locations around Fort Wayne and the cost to participate is only $2 per event.
Foster Park Pavilion #2 has been repaired and the safety fence will be removed later today. The public will be able to access the pavilion after 7 pm this evening. The pavilion was damaged on April 29 when high wind gusts caused a tree to fall on the structure.
Mayor Tom Henry and the Parks & Recreation Department’s Employee Task Force presented a check for $3,085.50 to the Community Harvest Food Bank today. Five hundred, eighty-five dollars and fifty-two cents were collected from patrons of the Hotel California concert at Foellinger Theatre Saturday, May 24. The balance of almost $2,500 came from concert proceeds.
