Fort Wayne, IN.: The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department’s neighborhood carnival scheduled for Lakeside Park today, 5 - 7 pm, will take place inside both Lakeside pavilions. This is a free neighborhood event. The carnival will have games, food and fun for kids and their families.

Fort Wayne, IN: Due to the threat of storms, Amanda Blumenhurst Freimann has cancelled her golf clinic scheduled for 10 am this morning at the Lifetime Sports Academy. As a result, she will be unavailable for media interviews at 10:45 am. Amanda hopes to reschedule the event in July.

Submit Applications by July 1, 2015

Fort Wayne, Ind.— Applications are being accepted online for residential street trees at a lower cost to citizens and can be found at www.fortwayneparks.org. Residents may apply for a street tree which the City would plant this fall adjacent to their property, on the street right of way. The cost of the tree will be $50. The citizen-match street tree program has been offered annually for close to 20 years on a first-come, first-served basis.

Shade tree(s) will have a 2-inch diameter trunk and be from 8 to 14 feet tall, depending on the variety. On the application, tell us what varieties you think would grow best, look best, and coordinate best with other trees on the rest of your street. A list of the trees we can plant, which are sturdy, long lived, disease resistant, and beautiful can be found at www.fortwayneparks.org.

The City Arborist will consider the species you’ve requested and make the final decision about what to plant. The City reserves the right to deviate from your request if the City Arborist finds it to be inappropriate based on survivability or appearance, but we will let you know if this is necessary.

Fun, friendship and fitness; June 1 - 18

Fort Wayne, Ind.—Mayor Tom Henry and Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll kicked off the 37^th Annual Senior Games today with the ceremonial lighting of the torch at Courthouse Green. The Senior Games is open to adults 50 and older and over 400 are expected to play this year in locations all over Fort Wayne.
