To commemorate over 80 years of municipal golf in Fort Wayne, longtime patron Kenny Rodewald hit a beautiful shot off the first tee at Foster Park Golf Course today. Rodewald has been playing golf at Foster for 75 years, since he was four years old. Parks & Recreation Director Al Moll and Golf Professional Rick Hemsoth joined Rodewald to announce the anniversaries of all the City golf courses. Foster Park Golf Course is 85 years old this year, Shoaff Park Golf Course is 55 years old and McMillen Park Golf Course is 50 years old.

 

 

Mayor Tom Henry and Parks & Recreation Director Al Moll kicked off the 16th year of the Lifetime Sports Academy today at McMillen Park. Lifetime Sports Academy Co-Chair Jerry Fox, Academy Supervisor Tom Hogan, Golf Professional Rick Hemsoth, participants and supporters of LSA joined the Mayor and Director Moll in encouraging the crowd of youth at opening day to stay active and participate in the seven week program as often as possible.

Buckner Park Public Input Meeting

 

The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department is applying for a Land and Water Conservation grant to make improvements to Buckner Park. The public is invited to provide input on the proposed improvements at the next meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners at 4 pm on Thursday, June 20, 2013.

Mayor Tom Henry and Parks and Recreation Director Al Moll kicked off the 35th anniversary of the Senior Games today with the ceremonial lighting of the torch at Courthouse Green. The Senior Games is open to adults 50 and older and over 300 participants are expected to participate this year.
