Our lifeguards have weekly in-service training to maintain their “rescue ready” skills.  Lifeguards are taught to watch all areas of the water, and to respond to emergencies within 1 minute.  In addition, they are trained to be able to identify and reach guests in distress within 30 seconds.  Each pool is also required to perform VAT’s (Vigilance Awareness Training)  The staff will place a realistic mannequin in the area the guard is responsible for watching.  This is unannounced to the guard and they must be able to recognize and retrieve the mannequin within the 30 second time-frame.
