Book Sales


August 11-13

Book sales are open to the public and feature hardback books, paperback books and DVDs. (Donations are accepted through the Wednesday before the sale.)

Santa’s Workshop at the Community Center

Start   your   downtown   celebration   at   the Community Center with free holiday activities for the kids. There will be crafts, refresh- ments and movies. Donate a new or gently used bear and enter a drawing to win a giant elf bear. Kids can shop for inexpensive holiday gifts for $3 or less at the North Pole Stop-n-Shop. Mom and Dad can shop too, our Community Center patrons have been crafting holiday items to sell in the Crafter’s Corner. Finally, check out the light display on the Community Center roof when  we turn on the lights at 6:00.

Veterans’ Breakfast

The Community Center will host a FREE breakfast for men and women who have served our country in the Military. American Legion Band of Fort Wayne will be provid- ing the music. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, November 4. Call 427-6460 to sign up.       

Car Show Spooktacular
Saturday, October 17, 5:00-8:00 pm
Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Check out all of the spooky rides cruising in at the Community Center! There is a $10 entry fee per car and Dash Plaques will be given to the first 50 entries. The top 6 Best Decorated Vehicles will receive awards. A Costume Contest for two age groups, Adult (13& up) and Child (12&under) will also be a part of the evening. Enjoy Trunk-or Treating, Pumpkin Decorating Contest, tunes from DJ Fast Eddie and lots of fun games and contests. This frightfully fun evening is brought to you by Krooz In’ Calendar. FREE ADMISSION!  

Amazing Race
Saturday, October 3, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Community Center, 233 W. Main St.

Solve clues, perform challenges and tour the city  as  you  compete  for  big  prizes.  Teams must  be  comprised  of  two  men  and  two women (ages 16+). At least one person on the team must be over 18. You will be responsible for your team’s transportation which may include several treks across the city. The top 3 teams will receive prize packages. Top finishers in each challenge will also receive awards. The race ends with a victory party where prizes will be awarded and stories will undoubtedly be shared. All participants will receive an official Amazing Race t-shirt which must be worn during the event. Registration begins September 4 at 9:00 a.m. and ends September 18 at 4:30 p.m. Call 427-6467 or stop by the Community Center, Monday- Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. to register your team. Space is limited to 30 teams. Fee: $80/ team ($100/team after September 18). Registration code: 443900-S1.

Halloween Haunt

Downtown Fort Wayne becomes a haven for monsters, ghosts, vampires and zombies on Saturday afternoon. Bring your little goblins to the Community Center for an afternoon of frightful fun. There will be a minimal charge for games for kids and the whole family. You will be able to enjoy free face painting and a free snack. Fort Wayne Youth Theatre will be performing at 2:00 pm. Concessions will be available for sale.  Admission is free.
