Sweetheart Orchid Display
Opens Tuesday February 4
Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.
Make a date for the Botanical Conservatory to enjoy the lovely indoor gardens and special display of orchids. Take a moment to capture a photo under the orchid arbor planted with a cascade of striking Cattleyas, fragrant Dendrobiums, dainty Oncidiums, and moth-like Phalaenopsis against a backdrop of our lush Tropical Garden. Then, browse the Conservatory gift shop and purchase an orchid or other sweet memorable gift.
$1 Night Insight: Cactus Vibes
Thursday, February 6, 6-7 p.m.
Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.
The Conservatory is open on the first Thursday night of the month for a discounted admission of just $1 per person. During each $1 Night, drop in to the Conservatory program room for a fun and educational lecture or activity. No reservations required. This month, stay sharp by learning about the symbolism behind a cactus. Participants will also be able to enjoy a light snack and get their point across with a heartfelt message on a cacti craft.
Doggie Daze Craze
Saturday, February 8, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.
Take part in tail-wagging activities, win games, and make crafts, all with a doggie theme. A scavenger hunt will test visitors’ dog breed knowledge. Everyone will paws-itively adore the “Dog Days of Winter” exhibit featuring topiary dogs, a dog show and dog park. Local experts will be on hand to teach about keeping dogs as pets, obedience training and more. Regular Conservatory admission applies. For more information, call (260) 427-6440. Winter Hike: Animals in Winter
Saturday, February 8, 10 a.m.
Lindenwood Nature Preserve, 600 Lindenwood Ave.
During these one hour winter hikes, participants will discover the beauty of Lindenwood in the winter months. Each hike focuses on a different topic. We’ll meet at the parking lot and the hikes will commence promptly as scheduled. This hike is free and open to all ages. No pre-registration is necessary. Call Eden at 427-6008 for more information.
Birdwatching on our Urban Rivers
Sunday, February 9, 10 a.m.
Convergence Sculpture, Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior
Learn about the world around you while assisting the scientific community! Come count birds with Riverfront Fort Wayne! Cornell University’s Bird Lab is focusing on how urban birds use green spaces, and we’ll track and report our observations to them. Learn some bird identification and binocular basics, as well. Citizen Science programs are open to all ages at no charge and no pre-registration is required. Just meet us at the park dressed for the outdoors. Dog Days of Winter Garden Exhibit

The “dog days of summer” means hot, humid, outdoor weather, but our fanciful opposite – the Dog Days of Winter – provides a fun time to visit indoors, in spite of the weather. This garden of make-believe invites young visitors to imagine what it would be like to own a dog – or be one! A variety of topiary breeds occupy the garden beds, but the Dog Park Agility Course is a playground for doggie-wannabes.
Choose a favorite breed at the Dog Show, try on different sizes of Dog Housing to see which fits best, and practice howling at the moon. Visitors can also learn a bit about pet care at the Doggie Doctor and take a simple quiz to find out which breeds they resemble. Featuring lush tropicals, winter-bloomers, and later in the season, early spring-flowering bulbs, the Dog Days of Winter will bring welcome relief from the chill of the season. Sponsored by the Magee-O’Connor Foundation, the Howard P. Arnold Foundation and Majic 95.1.
Family Game Night

Looking for a family friendly event for Tuesday nights? Join us for Family Game Night hosted weekly by St. Paul’s Lutheran School on Tuesday nights in the Park Foundation Pavilion. There will be a wide variety of board and tabletop games available. Bring your friends and neighbors for an evening of games. All ages welcome. Betting and gambling on games is prohibited. No registration required but space is limited to 125 people. Admission is FREE.
Dance Promenade
Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m.

Feel like you need to learn some new moves to impress? Then drop into the Park Foundation Pavilion every Monday night to learn a new style of dance and practice in an open dance. Instructors from a variety dance groups and schools in the local area will be offering lessons at the beginning of the night followed by open dancing. The type of dance will rotate so we can cover styles from Ballroom to Hip-Hop and also traditional cultural dances. Check the Riverfront Fort Wayne Facebook weekly for updates and additional information. All ages welcome but space is limited to 100 people. Admission: $10/person.
Speak, Sing, or Wing
Thursdays, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Park Foundation Pavilion

Wednesday nights are anything but quiet in Promenade Park when you join us for Speak, Sing or Wing Night. Rotating themes keep things interesting and as we explore different forms of performance by showcasing local and regional comedians, poets, spoken word, storytelling, and musicians. For those less talented, but willing to brave the stage, drop in for the first ever Riverfront Fort Wayne “Un-talent Show.” Check the full schedule at RiverfrontFW.org. Buffet style food by Mad Anthony’s/Shigs in Pit. Ages 21+. Admission: $15 at the door. Space limited to 150.

Come down to Promenade Park on Sundays where there’s something to do for everyone. Learn more about the world around you and assist the scientific community with our Citizen Science programs, be enlightened with our Philosophy and Government for All series, immerse yourself in the world of literature in Get Lit, collaborate on a community art project at Creativity for Change workshops, or participate in a self-improvement class in Building our Community. Sundays are getting interesting on the Riverfront! There is no charge and no pre-registration required.
