June 27, 2024

McKinnie Commons Connections take place on Sundays, June 30 and July 28 from 4:00-6:00 pm, and on Thursday, July 11 from 5:30-7:30 pm. This gives people plenty of opportunities to attend an event before summer’s over! The small park on the corner of McKinnie Avenue and South Anthony Blvd. opened in 2023 to develop a sense of unity and togetherness for the neighbors and residents as a part of the City’s South East Planning Strategy.

One of the biggest highlights of the events at McKinnie Commons Connections is the DJ. The music is always pumping, and there's something for everyone. Whether you like pop, hip-hop or oldies, the DJ's got you covered. The tunes are perfect for dancing near the stage or just relaxing on one of the swings just enjoying the vibe. Kids and adults alike can be seen dancing and having a blast. The music really brings everyone together and gets people moving and smiling.

On July 11, the Mexican Folkloric Dancers will take the stage and perform and Pupuseria Latin Delights Food Truck will be available,

For the last Connections event of the summer (July 28)  we will have The G-Money Band, Park & Play, Citilink, Fort Wayne Housing Authority, Center for Non-Violence, Allen County Health Department, AND on-site for purchase will be items from the Ice Hut truck (hot dogs, walking tacos, and snow cones)!  You won't want to miss the non-stop FUN!

Learning can be fun, and the educational booths at McKinnie Commons prove it. These booths cover all sorts of interesting topics. You might find booths about health and wellness tips, or environmental awareness. The folks at these booths are friendly and eager to share their knowledge. It's a great opportunity to learn something new while having a good time.

McKinnie Commons events are designed to be inclusive and welcoming. People from all walks of life come together to enjoy the festivities. It's a fantastic way to meet new people, foster converstaions and feel like part of the community. Whether you're young or old, there's something for you. The relaxed, friendly atmosphere makes it easy to strike up a conversation and make new friends.

So, if you haven't been to one of these events yet, make sure to check one out. Bring your friends and family or just come on your own and meet new people. With great music, tasty food on the horizon, and interesting things to learn, the McKinnie Commons events are a fantastic way to spend your time.
