For those looking to stay active, the center offers several fitness classes designed to accommodate different levels of physical ability. Downtown Walkers is a popular class that encourages seniors to get moving and explore the scenic routes around downtown Fort Wayne. Cardio Flex is perfect for those who want to get their heart rate up and improve their cardiovascular health through fun and engaging exercises. Indoor Circuit Training provides a well-rounded workout in a controlled environment, ideal for those who enjoy a mix of activities. Chair Yoga and Senior Yoga cater to those who prefer a more relaxed form of exercise, focusing on flexibility, balance and mindfulness. For the more rhythmically inclined, the Senior Tap Class offers a fantastic opportunity to learn the basics of tap dancing in a supportive environment.
Games and social activities are also a big part of the fall offerings at the community center. The Wii Bowling League is a hit among those who enjoy virtual sports in a lively group setting. Shuffleboard League and Community Cornhole League provide a bit of friendly competition and are great for making new friends. Bingo games are always a favorite, offering a chance to relax, have fun and maybe even win a prize.
For the creatively inclined, the community center offers a range of art classes. Curious About Crochet is perfect for those looking to learn a new skill or refine their technique in a supportive group setting. The Oil or Acrylic Painting class allows participants to explore their artistic talents and create beautiful works of art under the guidance of experienced instructors.
In addition to the regular classes, the Fort Wayne Community Center will be hosting Active Aging Week from September 28 to October 4. This special week is packed with events designed to promote health, wellness and active living among older adults. Activities include a Fishing Derby, Pickleball, Disc Golf, Table Tennis, Golf, Trivia and Shuffleboard. These events provide a fantastic opportunity for seniors to try something new, stay active and connect with others in the community.
