Summer wouldn’t be complete without a little sunshine, some fresh air and maybe even a few muddy boots. That’s exactly what kids can look forward to at Farmin’ Fun Day Camp at Salomon Farm Park. Hosted by Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, this one-of-a-kind camp gives children and teens the chance to roll up their sleeves, learn where food comes from, and experience the simple joys of life on the farm.

Farmin’ Fun Day Camp offers more than just fun in the sun. It’s a place where young campers ages 4–17 connect with nature, build friendships and discover new things every day. Whether they’re caring for animals, playing games, exploring the woods or helping in the garden, campers are learning in a hands-on environment that’s full of wonder and excitement.

From Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., campers dive into a full schedule of farming fun. For parents with early mornings or late workdays, there’s also optional AM Camp Care starting at 7:00 a.m. and PM Camp Care until 6:00 p.m.

The camp blends outdoor adventure with meaningful learning. Kids spend time with friendly farm animals, take hayrides around the park and even splash around in the creek on hot days. They’ll also try wool crafting which includes washing, dyeing and felting wool from the farm’s own sheep. Campers will use ingredients from the garden in the teaching kitchen, continuing the full farm-to-table experience.

There are still spots left, don’t miss your chance!

Spots are filling up fast, but there are still openings for several age groups across multiple weeks:

  • 4 & 5-year olds: Week 2 (June 16–20), Week 4 (July 7–11), Week 5 (July 14–18), and Week 6 (July 21–25)
  • 6–11-year olds: Week 2 (June 16–20), Week 3 (June 23–27), Week 5 (July 14–18), and Week 6 (July 21–25)
  • Counselors-in-Training (ages 13+): Week 1 (June 9–13) and Week 2 (June 16–20)

Interested in leadership? Check out the CIT program!

For teens ages 13–17, the Counselors-in-Training (CIT) program is the perfect opportunity to step into a leadership role. After completing two weeks of our FIT program, CITs get to help lead younger campers through activities like beekeeping, gardening, and animal care. It’s a great way to build confidence, gain experience, and make a difference all while still enjoying the camp environment.
