General Electric Company Donates WWI Memorial to City

Mayor Tom Henry was joined today by local veterans, City Councilman Tom Didier, Parks & Recreation Director Al Moll, and Parks & Recreation staff to rededicate the WWI Memorial moved to McCulloch Park. The Memorial has been located behind a fence on the grounds of General Electric for the last 89 years. This new location in McCulloch Park will allow Fort Wayne citizens easier access to pay tribute to Fort Wayne WWI servicemen.

Youth Summer Activities

Early registration deadlines approaching!

 

The deadline for early registration for the following Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation summer youth activities is May 29. There may be openings after May 29, but an additional $10 fee will be charged. 

Pools & Splash Pads Opening

Fort Wayne, IN: The City’s free splash pads will be turned on Saturday, May 25, with plans to keep them turned on until Labor Day.

Northside Pool will be open May 25 – 27 and June 1 and 2, opening daily starting June 8. McMillen Pool will be open June 1 and 2, with daily hours also starting June 8. Memorial Pool will open for the season on June 8.

Reunion to Honor Weisser Youth Center

Former youth, staff and volunteers invited to join Juneteenth Celebration

 

 

Fort Wayne, IndTo commemorate the 15th anniversary of Weisser Park Youth Center, this year’s Juneteenth Celebration will focus on bringing together all those who have enjoyed the youth center since its beginning—to share memories and create new ones. If you or your children participated or helped with past events at Weisser Youth Center, you are encouraged to join the community at this free, three-day celebration. Youth and adults of all ages are invited. Weisser Park Youth Center, is located at 802 Eckart Street.

Playground Safety Seminar

Tuesday, May 21, 6 – 7 pm

 

The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department invites Neighborhood Associations and individuals to attend a FREE 1-hour workshop with experts to learn how to make private and community playgrounds safer. The seminar will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 6 - 7 pm at the Psi Ote Lower Pavilion in Northside Park.
