Fort Wayne, IN—To celebrate Active Aging Week, the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is offering free activities and information booths to promote the benefit of leading an active and engaged lifestyle at age 50 and older.

The Community Center downtown will offer free Active Aging Week tournaments at several locations. Participants must be 50 years or older, may enter as many tournaments as they’d like, but are required to sign up at least two days before the tournament. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each tournament. Call 260-427-6460 to register.

Fort Wayne, IN — The Fort Wayne Parks & Recreation Department is in the process of drafting a 5-year master plan and invites the public to provide input at a special meeting Thursday, October 12 at 5:30 pm. The meeting will be held at Riverlodge Pavilion in Shoaff Park.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Camp Canine dog park will be closed on September 16th and 17th  for the Johnny Appleseed Festival. Pawster Park Pooch Playground in Foster Park West will be open during the festival.

Botanical Roots Final Concert

September 1 

Morry Sochat and the Special 20s (Blues)

Doors open 7:30 pm, Show starts 8:30 pm, Headliner 9:30 pm

The final concert of the Conservatory’s fresh-air Botanical Roots series features blues music with a touch of swing. Local opener Swick & Jones will kick off the show at 8:30 pm, bringing together elements of folk, blues, Americana, rock, and pop music for a wonderful blend that everyone can enjoy. Our headliner band, Morry Sochat and the Special 20s, hails from the Windy City. The Special 20s bring a freshness to Chicago blues, mixing in the sounds of swing and 1950s rock ‘n roll. Concerts are held on the Conservatory Terrace rain or shine. Seating is limited, so you may bring your own lawn chair. Food and beverage are available from Mad Anthony Brewing Company; no outside food or drink permitted. Admission: $6 ages 13+; 12 and under free. Members entrance and early admission.
