June 28 at Packard Park:

Hometown Professional Soccer standout  honored by Mayor Henry

Fort Wayne, IN: Futsal, also known as small-sided soccer, has now found a home in Packard Park. At an official kick-off June 28th, 1pm, officials from the soccer community and Packard Park neighbors  joined Mayor Henry, international soccer star DaMarcus Beasley and Parks and Recreation Director Steve McDaniel as they officially opened Indiana’s first Beasley outdoor Futsal court.

Fort Wayne, IN: The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is excited to release the lineup for its thirteenth annual Botanical Roots outdoor concert series to take place at the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory in downtown Fort Wayne.  This season brings six headliners and openers will perform on the Terrace plaza every Friday night, beginning July 27 through August 31. Concerts feature national touring acts performing upbeat and soulful styles that find their roots in American musical traditions.

Bug Day

Saturday, June 23, 10:00am – 3:00pm

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun

Explore and learn about the exciting world of exotic butterflies and other arthropods at our summer “Bug Day” event.  Visitors take part in activities, games and crafts, all with a “buggy theme”.  Get up close and personal with one of our resident arthropods or take home a bug balloon crafted by a local balloon artist. Edible insects, anyone? Several local organizations will be on hand to help you learn more and to answer your questions about honey bees, butterflies, mosquitoes and more!  Admission is $5/adult, $3/child age 3-17, free for children 2 and under. Fort Wayne, IN: The Fort Wayne Dragon Boat Races presented by Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation, Riverfront Fort Wayne, and Parkview Regional Medical Center scheduled for Saturday, June 23 are now CANCELLED.  Due to high water levels and anticipated additional rain, it is unsafe to hold the event on the scheduled date. If possible, the event will be rescheduled at a later date.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Due to heavy rainfall this week, Foster Park Golf Course is currently closed. The course is expected to open Saturday, if the rain subsides as expected. Please call the clubhouse at 260-427-6735 to check the status of the course before planning a golf outing.


McMillen and Shoaff Park Golf Courses are open to walkers. No golf carts are allowed at this time. Golf carts may be allowed over the weekend, if the rain subsides. Please call the appropriate golf course before arriving to check on the status of golf carts:
