Nevermore: The Tell Tale Heart

October 19

Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior St.

Fright Night comes to Promenade Park for “Nevermore.” Participants can help solve a murder mystery inspired by the short story, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” by Edgar Allan Poe. Proceeds from this 21+ event support Riverfront educational programming for children throughout the community. More information at riverfrontfw.org.

Saturday, October 19

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St., and the Community Center, 233 West Main Street

Come downtown for Fright Night on October 19. The Botanical Conservatory will have their family-friendly Pumpkin Zone event from 10 am to 3 pm. Regular admission applies. Then bring your little ghouls and goblins to the Community Center for an afternoon of frightful fun at the FREE Halloween Haunt from 2 to 5 pm. Later that night, the Botanical Conservatory will once again present the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This cult classic movie will be shown outside on the Terrace on October 19 at 9:15 pm, doors open at 7.

 

Handmade Homemade Sale

Sunday, October 20, 12 - 5 p.m.

Salomon Farm Park, 817 W. Dupont Rd.

The holiday shopping season starts at Salomon Farm Park! Farmers, crafters and artisans will be selling their homemade, home-grown goods in the Wolf Family Learning Center. Learn more at fortwayneparks.org.

 

Punkin Path Garden Display

Open through October 27

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

The path will be decorated with pumpkins, gourds, bales of straw- and gnomes! – to provide fun photo memories. Gnomes are caretakers of land and animals; they are industrious, enjoy all kinds of games, and surprisingly, they love to travel! Watch for them along the Punkin’ Path and learn about them. This exhibit is included in Conservatory admission and open during public hours. Sponsored by Majic 95.1.

 

Reduced Golf Greens Fees

Foster, McMillen, and Shoaff Park Golf Courses

Fall reduced golf fees at all three city golf courses. Specific fees and additional information can be found at fortwayneparks.org or by calling one of the three golf courses: Foster – 260-427-6735; McMillen – 260-427-6710; Shoaff – 260-427-6745

Botanica Jones: “Botanica Jones: Scientist, Merchant or Thief?”

Open through November 17

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

At this garden exhibit in the Botanical Conservatory, guests can visit a wealthy Englishman’s garden, showcasing plants brought back by “Botanica Jones,” a plant explorer of the late 1800s through early 1900s. Visitors can decide whether they have the passion to join these botanical elite. The “Botanica Jones” exhibit is sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, the Flora Dale Krouse Foundation, the M. E. Raker Foundation, WAJI Majic 95.1 and PBS 39.
