Safe Haven Harvest Fest

Thursday, October 22, 5:30-7 p.m.

McMillen Park Community Center, 3901 Abbott St.

Bring your little ghosts and goblins to the McMillen Park Community Center parking lot for an evening of safe and not-so-spooky fun. Kids can wear their Halloween Best for a Trunk-or-Treat and pick up some goodies to take home. Community vendors and music will also make the evening a party! Special COVID-19 precautions will be in place to keep everyone safe and Trunk-or-Treaters are asked to maintain 6 feet of distance.

 

Great Tree Canopy Comeback

Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m.

Casselwood, Towpath Trail, and Vesey Parks in Fort Wayne, and Marylands Farm in New Haven

Friends of the Parks of Allen County invites citizens to partner with area parks & trails departments, non-profits, businesses, neighborhoods, and community volunteers to plant new trees in parks and public spaces during the 19th annual Great Tree Canopy Comeback. The event will include invasive species removal to help sustainably continue forest regeneration in all parks and trails around Allen County. Volunteers of all ages are critical to the success of the event and are encouraged to sign up and help restore the tree canopy. Trees will be planted in the following parks this year: Casselwood, Towpath Trail, and Vesey Parks in Fort Wayne, and Marylands Farm in New Haven. Invasive species will also be removed at Vesey Park. Community Appreciation Day

Saturday, Oct. 24, regular golf course hours

McMillen Park Golf Course, Oxford Street at Hessen Cassel Road

Golfers are invited to play for free (carts not included) at McMillen Park Golf Course to say thank you to the community for supporting our parks! Tee times must be reserved in advance and golfers must play with at least one other player. Call the course at 260-427-6710 to schedule a tee time.

 

Punkin Path

October 6-November 1, Regular Conservatory hours

Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.

The Botanical Conservatory welcomes visitors to the Punkin Path enjoy fall surroundings in our outdoor Exploration Garden decorated in its seasonal best! As part of this interactive display, visitors can take part in festive activities, photo ops and brain teasers that reveal a secret message along the way. Everyone’s favorite garden gnomes will also be back and more mischievous than ever before. Included with regular Conservatory admission. Sponsored by 97.3 WMEE.

Trek the Trails: Shoaff Park

Tuesday, Oct. 13, 6:10 p.m.

Conklin Pavilion parking lot, Shoaff Park, 6401 St. Joe Rd.

Join local trail users for weekly bike rides this summer to experience Fort Wayne on 2 wheels. Participants are asked to wear helmets and bring water along for the ride. All participants ride at their own risk. This summer and fall, the Conservatory invites visitors to escape the turbulence of daily life when embarking on a journey and exploring a garden state of mind. All are welcome to step into our Showcase Garden, designed to help visitors pause, relax and reflect.
