Sweetheart Orchid Bower
Opens February 9 through March 14
Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.
The sweetest display of orchids adds a complimentary backdrop in the Conservatory’s Tropical Garden where visitors will encounter a cascade of striking Cattleyas, fragrant Dendrobiums, dainty Oncidiums, and moth-like Phalaenopsis. Visitors can also enjoy browsing the Conservatory Shop where orchids and other plants are available for purchase. Just the occasion for a Valentine’s date! Included with regular Conservatory admission.
“The Tiki Bowl” Play Garden
Open through April 4
Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S. Calhoun St.
Find indoor tropical fun and games this winter in our family-friendly Showcase with our version of the ancient Hawaiian bowling game, ‘Ulu Maika.’ Rather than using a club or putter, players control their ball by rolling, then kicking, it towards each goal. A half-dozen greens offer challenges for players to navigate and a chance to chart the Great Polynesian Migration from Taiwan to Hawaii over thousands of years. Surrounded by lush foliage and bright colors, visitors will enjoy the fragrance of the living garden while waiting to play. Sponsored by PNC Trust, Magee-O’Connor Foundation, Howard P. Arnold Foundation and Majic 95.1.
