Fort Wayne, Ind. – Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is offering the following events and programs on the Riverfront in January:

Dog Sweater Day

Saturday, January 29, 3:00-5:00 p.m.

Auer Lawn, Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior St.

All fashion-conscious pet lovers are invited to “unleash” their fur-pal’s sense of wintertime style at Dog Sweater Day. Show off your pooch’s cable knit sweater, warm scarf, or killer canine overcoat for the perfect seasonal photo. Dog owners and dogs can meet in the Auer Lawn. Have your dog’s picture taken in the Bandshell to enter the “Cutest Dog Contest” determined by most likes on Facebook. Note: The event area is not enclosed - please plan to keep dogs leashed and pick up after them.

New Horizons Polka Band

Sunday, January 9, 2:00-3:00 pm

Park Foundation Pavilion

Please join us for an afternoon of polka, Dixieland, and swing music provided by the New Horizons Polka Band. This polka band was formed in 2007 to play at retirement facilities through Audiences Unlimited.  All 7 members are retired but continue to be active with their music. We have space for up to 60 attendees at this performance, so please Mask Up! and join us.

The Shepherd’s Brass

Sunday, January 23, 2:00-3:00 pm

Park Foundation Pavilion

This formal Brass ensemble combines the sounds of trumpets, a French horn, trombones and tuba, playing a variety of songs from the roaring 20’s through the swing era and into the ballads and popular tunes of the 50’s and 60’s. If you are looking for sentimental music with a romantic flair or setting sun this is a concert you will want to attend. We have space for 55 attendees so please Mask Up! and join us.

Yoga on the Riverfront

Sunday, January 9, 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Promenade Park, 202 W. Superior St.

FREE yoga on the Riverfront continues this winter inside the Park Foundation Pavilion overlooking the St. Marys River. This relaxing, 1-hour flow is for all skill levels and led by instructor Chelsea Vona, owner of Discover Yoga.
