Painting at Promenade Park

Tuesday, June 28, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

Discover what happens when you mix acrylic paint, color, play and exploration and apply it to a canvas. Choose a landscape to paint and follow step by step with local impressionist artist and teacher Sarah Creason. No artistic experience is necessary. Sweet Breeze Canal Boat Adds 60-minute Weeknight Tours

Thursday, June 30 at 6:00p.m.and 7:15 p.m. and also on the following Thursday evenings: July 7, July 14, July 21 and July 28

South Boat Dock, Promenade Park, 2020 West Superior Street

Relax and experience a guided cruise of the St. Marys, St. Joseph and Maumee rivers in an 1840’s-era canal boat replica. Sweet Breeze tours offer a unique perspective of the City of Fort Wayne and a fascinating and often humorous narrative of early settlers and later residents surrounding the three rivers that meet in the “Summit City.”  It’s history that comes to life! Cruises on Thursday, July 7 will feature live music from local musicians. Choose a tour with saxophonist Brett Welch and the best hits from the 50's at 6:00 p.m. or with flautist  Amber Feichter and songs from the 60's to today at 7:15p.m.   

 

 

Trek the Trails Bike Ride

Tuesday, June 28, 6:00 p.m.

Life Bridge Church, 12719 Corbin Road

The 2022 Trek the Trails season continues on Tuesday evenings. Meet at the trailhead (SW corner of lot) for a nine mile ride. There is no cost to participate. All experience levels are welcome and participation is at your own risk. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets. Trek the Trails is sponsored by Trek Bikes Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Harley Davidson, and UAW 2209. Storytime at the Park

Wednesday June 29, and each Wednesday until August 31, 10:00-10:30 a.m.

Join the Allen County Public Library and Riverfront Fort Wayne for fresh air, sunshine and children’s literature at Promenade Park. Most dates will be held under the awning of the Park Foundation Pavilion. Drop in, it’s free!

Muddy River Concert Series: Three Hundred East | JD3 Trio

This unique concert series centers around the themes of heritage, culture and connection. Meet the vendors and organizations focusing on activities and information on our city and its rivers. Enjoy local music beginning at 5:30 p.m. Food trucks and beverages will be on site at 5:00 p.m. Admission is free. Sponsored by WANE-15 and 96.3 XKE Fort Wayne’s Classic Rock.

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

The Conservatory admission is just $1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Thursday. Plus, Civic Center Garage parking is validated for free.

 

Senior Games

Saturday, July 2, 9:30, 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and Monday to Saturday through July 7 at various times

Games will be held at a number of event sites. On July 2, three events are scheduled at the Community Center, 233 West Main Street

The annual Senior Games will run for approximately five weeks (until July 7) with the help of 50-plus volunteers, and feature more than 40 exciting events such as golf, shuffleboard, corn hole, pickleball, archery, horseshoes, kayaking, checkers, softball and so much more. The games provide benefits such as development of physical and mental strength, balance, lower blood pressure, increased self-confidence, increased mobility and an extension of life expectancy. Games are open to all men and women age 50 and older. Entry fees are $2 per event. The 2022 Senior Games is sponsored by Parkview Heart Institute, WANE-15, Indiana Donor Network, D.O. Paris: City of Light & Love

July 2 to November 13 Public hours

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

Paris, France has long exuded romance through its iconic cityscape, art, architecture and famous riverbanks. Over time, a secluded atmosphere of cafes, lush landscapes and carefree glamour have come to define Parisian style. Catch a glimpse of a day in Paris through familiar scenes and playful hues adorning a public square in the Botanical Conservatory’s summer and fall exhibit. It’s bursting with light and love. Sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, M.E. Raker Foundation, Majic 95.1 WAJI, Classic Hits 101.7 WLDE and WANE-15.

 

City Pools Public Swim Hours

Northside Aquatic Center, Tuesday to Sunday, 12:30 -5:00 p.m.

Parnell Avenue and East State Blvd.

McMillen Aquatic Center, Monday to Saturday, 12:30-5:00 p.m.

Oxford Street, East of Anthony Blvd.

A free swim for youth with disabilities will be held weekly on Saturday from 5:15 –6:15 p.m. at Northside Pool. For more information about special swim programs, lessons, season passes and pool/pavilion rentals, visit www.FortWayneParks.org.
