Fort Wayne, Ind. –The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory at 1100 South Calhoun Street presents the following events and programs in August.

 

Paris: City of Light & Love

Until November 13, public hours

Paris, France has long exuded romance through its iconic cityscape, art, architecture and famous riverbanks. Over time, a secluded atmosphere of cafes, lush landscapes and carefree glamour have come to define Parisian style. Catch a glimpse of a day in Paris through familiar scenes and playful hues adorning a public square in the Botanical Conservatory’s summer and fall exhibit. It’s bursting with light and love. Included with regular admission. Sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, M.E. Raker Foundation, Majic 95.1m WAJI, Classic Hits 101.7 and WANE15.  

 

 

Susan Taylor Suraci: Paris Dream of 2018

Enjoy works of art by local and regional artists on display at the Botanical Conservatory. Susan Taylor Suraci originally hails from the Washington D.C. metro area. She is a 1982 graduate from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Studio Art and a longtime Fort Wayne resident. Suraci is an active member of Artlink and an exhibitor at The Castle Gallery. She is also a recipient of an Indiana Arts Commission grant. In 2018, Suraci realized a lifelong dream of visiting Paris where she stayed mostly in the charming Montmartre neighborhood that was home to many 19th century Impressionist artists. The resulting artwork is on display now through November 13 at the Botanical Conservatory.  

 

 

Bee the Change/$1 Thursday Nights

Thursday, August 4, and each Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

On the first Thursday of the month, a special Bee the Change activity will offer a positive reflection of self-worth and the potential for positive impact in the community beginning at 5:30 p.m. The August Bee the Change theme is “Desert Living”. No registration is required. The Conservatory admission is just $1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Thursday. Plus, Civic Center Garage parking is validated for free.

 

 

Yoga in the Garden

Saturday, August 13, 10:00-11:00a.m.

Greet the day with an all-levels class that stresses the restorative benefits of yoga and relaxing breathing techniques. Certified instructor, Tiffany Homes will guide the class with a gentle, calming sequence. Bring your own yoga mat. Class will be held outdoors in the shade, weather permitting. The session fee is $19 per person with Conservatory admission included. Please reserve your place by phone 260-427-6000 or online at www.FortWayneParks.org by Saturday, August 6.
