Confluence Kitchen: Mexico
“Dia de los Muertos”
Friday, November 4, 4:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Park Foundation Pavilion and Auer Lawn, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street
Confluence Kitchen returns to showcase the culture of Mexico and celebrate The Day of the Dead “Dia de los Muertos.” The Day of the Dead is a holiday in Mexico where families welcome back the souls of the deceased and celebrate their brief reunion with food, drink, and festive activities. At Confluence Kitchen: Mexico, guests can be creative and learn about the culture and cuisine of Mexico. Delicious Mexican food will be available for purchase from Paleteria La Michoacana and Amaneceres de Mexico will present a live dance performance. Local artist Emily Guerrero will bring her unique perspective of Hispanic heritage and “day of the dead” history. The night will end with a screening of the Disney/Pixar Movie “Coco” (2017) Directed by Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina. All ages are welcome, however please be aware that the film is rated PG. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at fortwayneparks.org or by calling 427-6000. Space is limited. Group tickets should be purchased together in order to guarantee group seating. Veterans Breakfast and Bingo

The Community Center will honor men and women who have served our country with a free breakfast and more. In addition to breakfast, the morning will include live music from the Shepherd's Brass Quintet and a presentation of the flags followed by bingo with prizes. The Veterans Breakfast and Bingo is sponsored by American Senior Communities, D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Home, Silver Birch and Ossian Health Communities.
Bee the Change/$1 Thursday Nights
Thursday, November 3, and each Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
On the first Thursday of the month beginning at 5:30 p.m., a special Bee the Change activity will offer a positive reflection of self-worth and the potential for positive impact in the community. The November Bee the Change theme is “Do Plants Have Feelings?” No registration is required. The Conservatory admission is just $1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Thursday and Civic Center Garage parking is validated for free.
Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Golf Course closings
- Shoaff Park Golf Course will close for the regular season at the end of the day on Sunday, October 30. Post season hours will be October 31-November 3, from 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
- Foster Park and McMillen Park golf courses will be open for the regular season through Friday, November 11.
- Additional golf days at Foster and McMillen may be available, based on weather conditions. Updates will be posted at www.FortWayneParks.org and on the www.Facebook.com/fortwayneparksgolf social media page.

Paris: City of Light & Love

Paris, France has long exuded romance through its iconic cityscape, art, architecture and famous riverbanks. Over time, a secluded atmosphere of cafes, lush landscapes and carefree glamour have come to define Parisian style. Catch a glimpse of a day in Paris through familiar scenes and playful hues adorning a public square in the Botanical Conservatory’s summer and fall exhibit. It’s bursting with light and love. This special exhibit is included with regular admission and sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, M.E. Raker Foundation, Waterfield Foundation, Barbara Bradley Baekgaard Foundation, Edward M. Wilson Foundation, Majic 95.1 WAJI, Classic Hits 101.7 and WANE 15.
Sammie’s Bottle Cap Murals Online Auction
Open until November 30
The Sammie involved in the Bottle Cap Mural Online Auction is the same Sammie Vance who combined recycling plastic with making friends on the playground with her Buddy Bench program. Vance began creating sketches for the artwork in early 2020. Teaming with Riverfront Fort Wayne and their Caps for a Cause events, a total of five eye-catching 62x48 inch murals have been assembled by members of the community using over 5,000 total plastic bottle caps and displaying themes of Friendship, Inspiration, Rainbow, Colorful Flowers and Love. Proceeds from the online auction will support inclusive programming through Riverfront Fort Wayne and Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation including sensory events and multi-cultural educational events. Susan Taylor Suraci: Paris Dream of 2018

Enjoy works of art by local and regional artists on display at the Botanical Conservatory. Susan Taylor Suraci originally hails from the Washington D.C. metro area. She is a 1982 graduate from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Studio Art and a longtime Fort Wayne resident. Suraci is an active member of Artlink and an exhibitor at The Castle Gallery. She is also a recipient of an Indiana Arts Commission grant. In 2018, Suraci realized a lifelong dream of visiting Paris where she stayed mostly in the charming Montmartre neighborhood that was home to many 19th century Impressionist artists. The resulting artwork is on display now through November 13 at the Botanical Conservatory.
