“California Dreamin’” Showcase Exhibit Opens

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

Calling all mamas and papas—find your inner beach bum at the Botanical Conservatory. Bring on the good vibes and hang loose at the botanical boardwalk accented with sun-loving tropical plants and vivid waves of color. Let the kiddos spring into the spirit of surf, sand and sun! Be sure to experience this Cali-cool winter exhibit. Sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, Howard P. Arnold Foundation, Magee-O’Connor Foundation, PNC Charitable Trusts, The Waterfield Foundation, WANE 15 and 103.9 Wayne FM.. 

 

Create and Play Tuesday

Tuesday, January 17, 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

Looking for a family-friendly event for the new year? Join Create and Play Tuesday at Promenade on the third Tuesday of the month for a variety of board games and engaging craft options. Bring your friends for an evening of free fun. All ages are welcome. Follow Riverfront Fort Wayne on social media for updates and details about each date. 

  

Dance Promenade!

January 18 and 25, Feb. 1 and 8, 6:00-9:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

Learn some new moves in 2023 at the riverfront. Shuffle into the Park Foundation Pavilion on Wednesday nights to learn and practice a new dance style. Instructors from a variety of local dance groups and schools will offer lessons at the beginning of the night followed by open dancing. The type of dance will rotate to include styles from waltzing to line dancing and also traditional cultural dances. All ages and abilities are welcome. Register in advance for $10 per class or $50 for all six sessions online at www.fortwayneparks.org

Learn tips and lessons to look and feel healthier! This free class offers lessons on food, nutrition and exercise to help you plan nutritious meals, be more active, handle food safely, spend food dollars wisely and improve food purchasing and preparation skills. Participants can earn a free cookbook and handy kitchen items just by attending. Please call 427-6460 for more information and to sign up.

Kerstin Glaess: “Seascapes”

Kerstin Glaess is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist working primarily in oil, collage and photography. She is best known for her paintings based on photographs and memories from her worldwide military adventures as a child. Glaess continues to be inspired by a nature collection of flora, fauna and landscapes from her various homes across two continents, two countries, eleven states, one U.S. Territory and counting! Her diverse collections of collages and drawings focus on the shared human experience teasing the borders between dreamscapes and reality. Seascapes is fittingly on display during the California Dreamin’ Showcase Exhibit at the Botanical Conservatory.

  

$1 Thursday Nights

Thursday, January 19, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

Find your inner beach bum and good vibes when you experience the California Dreamin’ showcase exhibit along with the Tropical and Desert gardens in the Conservatory. Admission is just $1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Thursday. Civic Center Garage parking is validated for free.
