Spring Celebration at Promenade!
March 25, 10:00a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street
Spring is the season of new beginnings. Fresh blooms open, animals awaken, and the earth seems to come to life once more. Come out and join the celebration at Promenade Park. It includes an educational and entertaining presentation from the Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center. See their amazing birds of prey up-close from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in the pavilion. Prior to or after the presentation, join a birdwatching tour, make bird seed crafts, and learn the basics of birdwatching. Binoculars and craft materials for kids and adults will be provided. Finally, don’t leave the park without making a fun paper bag kite craft and completing a scavenger hunt that will have you exploring the fresh sights, smells, and sounds of the beginning of Spring. Stop by anytime between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. for this FREE event.

Tour the Historic Old Barn circa 1871, the Wolf Family Learning Center, Salomon Family Homestead and the Salmon Farm Covered Bridge and envision your next event in one or more of these facilities. Coordinators will be on site to answer questions and take reservations.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street
Learn some new moves at the riverfront. Shuffle into the Park Foundation Pavilion on Wednesday night to learn and practice a new style of dance. Instructors from a variety of local dance groups and schools will offer lessons at the beginning of the night followed by open dancing. The March 29, featured dance will be the Cha Cha Cha and also traditional cultural dances. All ages and abilities are welcome. Register in advance for $10 per class online at www.fortwayneparks.org or by calling 260-427-6000. Drop-ins are available for $12 per session if space is allows. Maximum: 100.

Calling all mamas and papas—find your inner beach bum at the Botanical Conservatory. Bring on the good vibes and hang loose at the botanical boardwalk accented with sun-loving tropical plants and vivid waves of color. Let the kiddos spring into the spirit of surf, sand and sun! Be sure to experience this Cali-cool exhibit. Sponsored by the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, Howard P. Arnold Foundation, Magee-O’Connor Foundation, PNC Charitable Trusts, The Waterfield Foundation, WANE 15 and 103.9 Wayne FM.

Find your inner beach bum and good vibes when you experience the California Dreamin’ showcase exhibit along with the Tropical and Desert gardens in the Conservatory. Admission is just $1 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. every Thursday. Civic Center Garage parking is validated for free.

Kerstin Glaess is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist working primarily in oil, collage and photography. She is best known for her paintings based on photographs and memories from her worldwide military adventures as a child. Kerstin continues to be inspired by a nature collection of flora, fauna and landscapes from her various homes across two continents, two countries, eleven states, one U.S. Territory and counting! Her diverse collections of collages and drawings focus on the shared human experience teasing the borders between dreamscapes and reality. Coast to Coast is fittingly on display during the California Dreamin’ Showcase Exhibit at the Botanical Conservatory.
