Fort Wayne, Ind. – The following events and programs are happening the week ahead:
Reminder:
Ramon F. Miller: Landscape Architecture & Art
Until -August 13, public hours
Public Reception: April 30, 1:00-3:00 p.m. with artist lecture at 1:30 p.m.
Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street
Outdoor landscapes are continually being influenced by the work of nature such as through movement of trees, reflections in water, dark shadows from clouds or shimmering light on a dewy morning. To the human eye, these random transformative effects are wildly emphasized as part of an intentional landscape. Inspired by the joy and happiness of the natural world, landscape architects have long embraced randomness.
Hailing from sister city Gera, Germany, landscape architect and artist, Ramon F. Miller gives his perspective on randomness with modern day photographs that celebrate the abstract beauty of nature. This never-before-seen collection on display at the Botanical Conservatory emphasizes change and a lack of control with light and shadow effects in the moment. This reception is presented in partnership with Friends of the Parks of Allen County.

Be Your Own Artist: Hoop it Up!
Sunday, May 7, 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street
For hula-hoops, one size does not fit all, so here’s your chance to make your own. We’ll provide all the materials - tubing, wrapping colors and sound effects - to create your own custom hula hoop. Linda Duesler (aka Linda Hooper) is a local realtor who loves to hoop it up in the park! Realizing that the “kids” hoops were not suitable for an adult, Linda taught herself how to make hoops that are larger and heavier than those sold in stores. Linda began teaching hoop dancing and the group “Fort Wayne Hoopnotica” was formed. This activity is designed for ages 13 and above.
