Mother’s Day Plant Sale

Just in time for spring planting, the Botanical Conservatory offers over 700 varieties of plants at the annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale. Shop masses of locally grown herbs, vegetable starts, flowering perennials and native plants joining a host of annuals, mixed containers, hanging baskets, houseplants, bonsai and a variety of seeds. Essentials like potting soil and compost worms are also available. A team of knowledgeable plant advisors are even ready to answer questions and offer suggestions! This annual fundraiser supports Fort Wayne’s very own Botanical Conservatory. Sponsored by: Majic 95.1 WAJI and Fox55.

 

Mother’s Day in the Garden

Plan a special outing to the Botanical Conservatory where Moms get in FREE on Mother’s Day weekend. Drop by Conjure Coffee, browse the Conservatory Shop, visit live butterflies and admire all the lovely garden displays together. The first 800 mothers to visit receive a free plant! Paint with Your Pup

Sunday, May 21, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior St.

Your pup is the artist and creating their masterpiece is easy! One 8x10” canvas, paint and a dog-safe spreadable treat is included. Dogs will not be in contact with the paint, but will be encouraged to eat the spreadable treat as part of the artistic process. Afterwards, stop by the photo booth and pose with your fur-pal and their work of art. Supplies are limited, so early registration is recommended. Each dog must be registered and accompanied by at least one dog handler. Please plan to keep dogs on leash and pick up after them as needed. Spring Bonsai Show

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

Stroll through a miniature forest made up of familiar trees that are the focus of conversation. Members of the Fort Wayne Bonsai Club are ready to share about this fascinating art form! Cultivate your interest when choosing from a selection of bonsai specimen and pots that are available for cash-only purchase. Show entry included with general admission.

 

 

Marian, or The True Tale of Robin Hood

Saturday, May 20, 7:00 p.m.

Foellinger Theatre, 3411 Sherman Blvd.

A gender-bending, patriarchy-smashing, hilarious new take on the classic tale. Robin Hood is (and has always been) Maid Marian in disguise, and leads a motley group of Merry Men (few of whom are actually men) against the greedy Prince John. National Public Gardens Week

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

All are invited to explore diverse plant collections while touring indoor and outdoor destinations at the Botanical Conservatory. As part of Fort Wayne’s downtown revitalization efforts since 1983, our mission is to “provide a unique botanical venue for quality public education and enjoyment.” Visit during National Public Gardens Week to learn, celebrate and discover all there is to see and do at your local public garden! Also take advantage of a special giveaway while supplies last. Regular admission fees apply.

Color in Motion: Live Butterfly Exhibit

Live butterflies have landed at the Botanical Conservatory bringing with them an array of natural beauty and wonder. Watch in awe, their wings in flight, as they flash with color pigments and refracted light. Observe exotic butterflies emerging from their chrysalides right before your eyes! An epic display of multicolored flowers and foliage elevates this annual spring exhibit. Sponsored by English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, Ian and Mimi Rolland Foundation, The Waterfield Foundation, “In memory of Jo Ann and William Wyatt,” 97.3 WMEE and 21Alive.

 

Trek the Trails

Tuesday, May 16, Meet at 6:00 p.m.

Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 E. Tillman Road

The 2023 Trek the Trails season continues on Tuesday evenings. Meet at Fellowship Missionary Church for a 7.2 mile bike ride. There is no cost to participate. All experience levels are welcome and participation is at your own risk. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets. Trek the Trails is sponsored by TREK Bicycles, Freedom Cycle, VS Engineering, UAW Local #2209, and Three Rivers Velo Sport. Tread the Trails

Thursday, May 18, Meet at 6:00 p.m.

Fellowship Missionary Church, 2536 E. Tillman Road

Returning for its second year, the City of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Trails, and the Fort Wayne Running Club are also joining forces to present Tread the Trails. These 5k walks/runs are offered every other Thursday. All mobility aids are welcome at Tread the Trails, and participants are encouraged to lengthen/shorten the route as preferred.
