Travel Fort Wayne’s rivers on Sweet Breeze, an authentic 1840 canal boat replica. This fully accessible tour provides an opportunity to learn something new about Fort Wayne through its riverfront. Choose 90 minute or 45 minute cruise options on weekends. Tickets are $30 per person for a 90-minute cruise, and $20 per person for 45-minute cruise. Reservations can be made online at www.RideSweetBreeze.org, in person at the Parks and Recreation Offices (705 East State Blvd.) or by phone 260-427-6000 during normal business hours.

44th Annual Senior Games

Daily until July 6

Various locations, including the Fort Wayne Community Center, 233 West Main Street

The goal of the Senior Games is to promote the benefits of remaining active and physically fit and to encourage all adults over age 50 to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Festivities will start with an opening breakfast and health fair along with the torch lighting ceremony on Monday, June 5 at the Fort Wayne Community Center. Most events require little or no experience, and although some of the events are more strenuous, like pickleball, there are many choices that people of all physical abilities can participate in, such as card games, shuffleboard, timed jigsaw puzzles and billiards. Registrations are accepted two business days prior to events, and each registration costs $2. The 44th Annual Senior Games is sponsored by: Parkview Heart Institute, Indiana Donor Network, WANE 15, HoneyBaked Ham, WOWO 92.3 FM 1190 AM, United HealthCare, American Senior Communities, Park Place Senior Living and IU Health.

Sensory Clubhouse Opens June 12

Monday-Thursday, 9:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

Friday, 9:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Unwind your mind in the new Sensory Clubhouse. Sensory rooms are designed to help promote calmness, stimulate positivity and emotional well-being, improve socialization and increase focus—particularly for those individuals with dementia or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Time spent in a sensory room may reduce distress and agitation. It can also improve visual, auditory and tactile processing and cognitive awareness. The room may be reserved in half hour sessions. Please schedule at least 24 hours in advance by calling: 260-427-6460. Drop-in fee: $2.

 

 

Father’s Day in the Garden

Saturday, June 17 and 18, public hours

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

Treat Dad and Granddad to a special outing at the Botanical Conservatory where they get in free on Father’s Day weekend. While the family is entertained by live butterflies and beautiful garden displays, fathers can enjoy the visit with a beverage and snack available for purchase from Mad Anthony Brewing Company and Shigs in Pit (10:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00-3:30 p.m. on Sunday). The first 300 fathers to visit will receive a free plant! Sponsored by: 96.3 XKE.

 

 

Sweet Breeze Specialty Tour: Old Fort History Tour

Friday, June 16, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

South Dock, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

A special guest speaker from the Old Fort will entertain and educate with intriguing stories of Fort Wayne’s rich history and what it was like at the time of canal boats. Donations collected during the tour will benefit the Historic Old Fort. Tickets are $35 per person. Free Concert: Music for All Ages

Tuesday, June 13, 7:30 p.m.

Foellinger Theatre, 3411 Sherman Blvd.

The Fort Wayne Area Community Band returns to Foellinger Theatre to kick off their summer 2023 concert series with "Music for All Ages." Musical selections will span generations of composers and audiences alike and include: The Eagles On Tour, The Wizard of Oz, Captain America March, Themes Like Old Times, among many more. Admission is free.

Color in Motion: Live Butterfly Exhibit

Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory. 1100 South Calhoun Street

Live butterflies have landed at the Botanical Conservatory bringing with them an array of natural beauty and wonder. Watch in awe, their wings in flight, as they flash with color pigments and refracted light. Observe exotic butterflies emerging from their chrysalides right before your eyes! An epic display of multicolored flowers and foliage elevates this annual spring exhibit. Sponsored by English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, Ian and Mimi Rolland Foundation, The Waterfield Foundation, “In memory of Jo Ann and William Wyatt,” 97.3 WMEE and 21Alive.

 

Trek the Trails

The 2023 Trek the Trails season continues on Tuesday evenings. Meet for a 7.8 mile bike ride. There is no cost to participate. All experience levels are welcome and participation is at your own risk. Riders are encouraged to wear helmets. Trek the Trails is sponsored by TREK Bicycles, Freedom Cycle, VS Engineering, UAW Local #2209, and Three Rivers Velo Sport. Tread the Trails

The City of Fort Wayne, Fort Wayne Trails, and the Fort Wayne Running Club present Tread the Trails. These 5k walks/runs are offered every other Thursday. All mobility aids are welcome at Tread the Trails, and participants are encouraged to lengthen/shorten the route as preferred.
