38th Infantry Division Band, Indiana Army National Guard

Thursday, July 20, 7:30 p.m.

Foellinger Theatre, 3411 Sherman Blvd.

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation welcomes the Indiana Army National Guard as they bring multiple ensembles back to the Foellinger Theatre. Hear the 38th Infantry Division Concert Band, 38th Infantry Division Jazz Band and the 38th Infantry Division Brass Quintet.

This concert is free admission. Standard concession items will be available for purchase.

Jennings Recreation Center 75th Anniversary Celebration

Wednesday, July 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

1330 McCulloch Street

The community is invited to attend a special celebration and open house at the Jennings Recreation Center as Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation marks 75 years of service for kids and families in east central Fort Wayne. Activities will include building tours, carnival games, horse-drawn wagon rides, a bounce house, animals, face painting and food and refreshments while supplies last. This is a free event.  

 

 

Be Your Own Artist

Sunday, July 30, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

Discover what happens when you mix acrylic paint, color, play and exploration then apply it to canvas! Local artist Rebecca Stockert leads you step-by-step as you create your very own Whimsical Dragon, just in time for Riverfront Fort Wayne’s biggest event of the year–The Fort Wayne Dragon Boat Races. Rebecca has taught art history and studio art classes at Ivy Tech Community College and the University of Saint Francis, as well as teaching art to people of all ages all over the Midwest. This class is designed for ages 18 and above. All materials and supplies will be provided. The fee is $30 per person. Come hear the eight Fort Wayne Children’s Choir ensembles sing their first concert of the 2023-2024 season: "Christmas in July" Admission is free.

Travel Fort Wayne’s rivers on Sweet Breeze, an authentic 1840 canal boat replica. This fully accessible tour provides an opportunity to learn something new about Fort Wayne through its riverfront. Choose 90 minute or 45 minute cruise options on weekends. Tickets are $30 per person for a 90-minute cruise, and $20 per person for 45-minute cruise. Stayin’ Alive

Saturday, July 29, 8:00 p.m.

Foellinger Theatre, 3411 Sherman Blvd.

STAYIN’ ALIVE offers to their audiences the songs and sights of a full Bee Gees playlist, singing blockbusters such as “Night Fever”, “Jive Talkin’”, “How Deep is Your Love”, “You Should be Dancing”, “Nights on Broadway” and “Stayin’ Alive.” In addition, they perform softer poetic ballads such as “I Started a Joke”, “Massachusetts”, “Fanny be Tender”, “Words” and “To Love Somebody” among other great hits. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.com or in person at the Parks and Recreation Department, 705 East State Blvd. during regular office hours or at the Foellinger Theatre Box Office from 6:00 –10:00 p.m. on concert days.

This fully accessible tour provides an opportunity to learn something new about Fort Wayne through its riverfront. Tickets are $23 per person for a 60-minute cruise. An Herban Garden Showcase Exhibit

Foellinger Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street

Digest the community impact of urban gardening and see herbs that flourish, mushrooms that thrive and rooftops that grow. Forage some more to discover dynamic graffiti art and container gardens accompanying uptown views from your local stoop. It’s a beautiful season in the neighborhood at the Botanical Conservatory’s own herban garden. Sponsored by: the English Bonter Mitchell Foundation, Waterfield Foundation and WANE 15.

 

 

Salomon Farmers’ Market

Wednesday, July 26, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and continuing each Wednesday until September 6

Salomon Farm Park, 317 West Dupont Road

Find fresh produce, baked goods, honey and artisan crafts at this mid-week market. Tractor rides are planned for July 5 and the first Wednesday of each month until September 6, for $5 per person. Stop by and say hello to the newest members of the herd—Mickie and Frankie the Highland Coos as well as the goats, miniature horses and sheep.
