 Spring Celebration: Birds, Bugs & Blooms

Saturday, March 23, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Celebrate the start of spring at Promenade Park! Make some new feathered friends from Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center at their noon raptor presentation, check out some items from our Explorer’s Library, create a bug-themed craft with the Allen County Public Library, investigate the park via a blooming scavenger hunt or make your own “bug hotel” to take home at this free community event.

 Green Thumb Garden Tour

Sunday, March 17, 11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Do you love plants, have an interest in native gardens or want to grow your own food? Whether or not your thumb is green, there is plenty to learn at this free community event! There will be multiple workshops, activities and displays from local organizations like the Allen County Soil and Water Conservation District and Save the Maumee Grassroots Organization. You could win a free plant at the Plant Walk. Listen to a speaker at 1:00 p.m. about planning your own native garden and prepare yourself for a year of gardening and planting!

Tickets go on sale Friday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m.  

Fort Wayne, Ind –Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation adds two shows to its lineup at the Foellinger Theatre. Honeywell Arts & Entertainment presents Rockin' the 80's: Great White, Slaughter & Vixen on Friday, August 2, 2024, and TESLA on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Foellinger Theatre. Tickets go on sale Friday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. and will be available online at ticketmaster.com or in person at the Parks and Recreation Department, 705 East State Blvd.

City Golf Courses to Open March 12 and 13

Offering Season Passes, Instruction, Tournament and Group Outings


Fort Wayne, Ind –Foster, Shoaff and McMillen Park Golf Courses will open for the 2024 season next week. McMillen and Shoaff will open on Tuesday, March 12, at 10:00 a.m., followed by Foster Park Golf Course on Wednesday, March 13, at 10:00 a.m. After opening day, the first start time will be 10:00 a.m. at least until the end of the month. Cart conditions for each course and opening for the driving ranges at Shoaff and McMillen will be determined day-to-day. Please call to inquire.

Rick Springfield to Play at Foellinger Theatre, May 23

General and in-person sales begin Friday, March 8, at 10:00a.m.  

 Fort Wayne, Ind. –Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation announces that Fort Wayne’s Foellinger Theatre will host Rick Springfield “Full Band Electric” and feature his new “Automatic” album on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
