 Fort Wayne, Ind. – Riverfront Fort Wayne presents the following events and programs at Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street and Headwaters Park, 333 South Clinton Street in March:

 

Literacy Expo

Saturday, March 2, 11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Celebrate all forms of literacy and learn about reading assistance programs in Fort Wayne at the second annual Riverfront Literacy Expo. All family members can delight in free activities such as the Human Library, a calligraphy station and local author meet and greet. Book donations will also be accepted. If you see a book you’d like to read, you can trade a book for it. This free community event is a great way to engage and learn through others perceptions, struggles and growth by sharing experiences and various forms of literature.  

 

Kickboxing with 9Round

Sunday, March 10, 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Kick and punch your way through a great workout at this free monthly exercise class. Instructors will lead participants in a calorie burning journey like no other.

 

Yoga on the Riverfront

Sunday, March 10, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

This free, relaxing one-hour flow yoga class is designed for all skill levels and led by owner of Discover Yoga, Chelsea Vona. Bring your own yoga mat to Promenade Park or borrow one for the class.

 

 

Sunday Heritage Concert Series

Sunday, March 10, 2:00–3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Stop by for the garage rock and funk sound of FourPiece. The concert is free and open to all ages. Seating will be on a first come first served basis.

 

 

Green Thumb Garden Tour

Sunday, March 17, 11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Do you love plants, have an interest in native gardens or want to grow your own food? Whether or not your thumb is green, there is plenty to learn at this free community event! There will be multiple workshops, activities and displays from local organizations like the Allen County Soil and Water Conservation District and Save the Maumee Grassroots Organization. You could win a free plant at the Plant Walk. Listen to a speaker at 1:00 p.m. about planning your own native garden and prepare yourself for a year of gardening and planting!

 

 

Spring Celebration: Birds, Bugs & Blooms

Saturday, March 23, 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Celebrate the start of spring at Promenade Park! Make some new feathered friends from Soarin’ Hawk Raptor Rehabilitation Center at their noon raptor presentation, check out some items from our Explorer’s Library, investigate the park via a blooming scavenger hunt or create your own “bug hotel” to take home at this free community event.

 

River Rangers: Eclipse Explorers

Saturday, March 30, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Park Foundation Pavilion

Learn the science behind the solar eclipse from astronomy and physics students and staff from Purdue Fort Wayne in preparation for the big event on April 8, where Fort Wayne will be just outside the line of totality. Create an interactive craft and take home a pair of solar eclipse glasses. This activity is designed for ages 5-16. Fee: $5 each. Registration deadline: March 27.
