(Fort Wayne, Ind) – The Board of Park Commissioners will conduct their annual Election of Officers and Organizational Board Meeting on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The monthly Board meeting will follow immediately.

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Riverfront Fort Wayne presents the following events and programs in February:

 

Dog Sweater Day

Saturday, February 18, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

All fashion-conscious pet lovers are invited to ‘unleash’ their fur-pal’s sense of style at an informal meet-up celebrating four-legged wintertime fashion. If Sparky loves to sport a cable knit sweater or has a killer canine overcoat, come show it off! There’s no need to preregister. Just meet up in the Auer Lawn to sniff out some new friends and have a doggone good time. Photos will be taken in the bandshell for the “Cutest Dog Contest.” Winners will be determined by the most ‘likes’ on the Riverfront Fort Wayne Facebook page. NOTE: The event area is not enclosed, so please plan to keep all dogs leashed and pick up after as needed.

Park Foundation Pavilion, Promenade Park, 202 West Superior Street

Learn some new moves in 2023 at the riverfront. Shuffle into the Park Foundation Pavilion on Wednesday night to learn and practice a new style of dance. Instructors from a variety of local dance groups and schools will offer lessons at the beginning of the night followed by open dancing. The type of dance will rotate to include styles from waltzing to line dancing and also traditional cultural dances. All ages and abilities are welcome. Register in advance for $10 per class online at www.fortwayneparks.org or by calling 260-427-6000. Drop-ins are available for $12 per session if space is allows. Maximum: 100.

For Real, For Real Comedy Stories

Riverfront Fort Wayne and the Maumee Mary and Joseph Comedy Festival have partnered to bring some of the best local and regional comedians to Fort Wayne to tell hilariously true stories that are certain to keep the winter evenings warm and full of laughs. This event may feature adult content and is designed for ages 18 and above. Tickets are $10 in advance at www.fortwayneparks.org or $15 at the door. The maximum capacity is 150 people. Be captivated by the colorful mystique of Orchids. A tasteful display of orchids in bloom create a delightfully intimate space in the Botanical Conservatory’s Tropical Garden. Orchids and other stunning plants will be available for purchase in the Conservatory Shop. It’s just the place for a date and an ideal photo opportunity with your sweetheart! This display is included with regular Conservatory admission.

Kids Skate Free Day

Headwaters Park Ice Rink

There are a couple Kids Skate Free days left in this season. At Headwaters Park Ice Rink, kids age 13 and younger are admitted free of charge on the following Tuesdays; January 31 and February 14. Skate rental is available as needed for $3 per person. Admission is $6 per person for age 14 and above. Through February 26, 2023, the rink is open Tuesday-Thursday, 3:00-8:00p.m., Friday and Saturday, noon to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 8:00 p.m. Headwaters Park Alliance gratefully acknowledges that the 2022-2023 Ice Skating Season is sponsored by Barrett and Stokely Management Inc. Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Programs Update

 

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The following events and programs are changing due to weather conditions:

  • All Parks and Recreation classes are canceled for Wednesday, Jan. 25. 
  • Pre-registered daytime programming at the downtown Community Center is also canceled, however drop-in programming will be available until 4:30p.m. on Wednesday. The staff will be available to take registrations. All evening programs are canceled. 
  • Community Youth Center Programs at Weisser Park Center will be open for registered youth from noon to 5:00 p.m., including Kids Café at 2:00 p.m. Students from Jennings Youth Center will be transported to Weisser Park Youth Center at noon.
  • McMillen Community Center will close at 1:00 p.m. today.
  • Dance Promenade! is canceled for tonight.
  • The Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory is open, 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation is monitoring weather conditions and will advise if more changes are needed.
